Stephanie Holderness MCIAT

I am the Yorkshire region’s secretary. I take the meeting minutes and am responsible for communicating any changes/updates to head office.

I have recently changed jobs having worked for 8 years in a small architectural practice, firstly in their head office in London and then opening up the Leeds office 3 years ago. We designed and built high end residential glazed extensions across the UK. It was a challenging and exciting role, and being a small practice I was heavily involved with all aspects of the company and the work. I am now at a large multi-disciplinary global firm which couldn’t be more different! A new challenge where I hope to expand my experience and knowledge across the world of architecture and construction.

Why I got involved

I had completed my POP records back in 2011 but unfortunately had it deferred. It then took me a couple more years  (and some more experience later) to re-submit, which I chose to do using the new professional statement route. This was much better suited to me and my experiences in such a niche part of the industry. In the process of compiling my work, I decided to go to a committee meeting to find out more about what the institute were doing and how it worked and to gain some advice from fellow members. This was early 2013 and I have been a member ever since, qualifying as a Chartered Technologist in August 2014.
